Executive Summary

In this session, the audience will learn about the comprehensive approach that The Ohio State University is taking to integrate artificial intelligence across the institution, from student learning to research to day-to-day operations. Members of the training, simulation and education community will gain valuable perspectives from a 38-year U.S. Navy veteran-turned-higher education president as they seek to implement AI initiatives in their own organizations to train and educate future warfighters. Key discussion points will include: • What are the major elements of Ohio State’s AI initiative? • What are the similarities and differences between implementing AI at a large research university and simulation training in the aviation world? • Why do future leaders – in all fields, including the military – need to be “AI-ready”? • What are the cultural barriers that need to be overcome in embedding AI into the educational curriculum? • Given the near completion of the fall semester, what are some of the lessons learned, pros and cons, and best practices that Ohio State can share with colleagues across education, industry and the military?
