Independent Consultant
Frederick J. Diedrich is currently an independent consultant. For over twenty-five years, he has served as Principal Investigator, Project Manager, and senior technical staff for programs with a range of government sponsors. His research portfolio focuses on methods of instruction and assessment designed to deliberately support the development of attributes and competencies. Sample programs include: the creation of assessment tools for areas such as character, empathy, social skills, and problem solving; an evaluation of instructional designs and their influence on social skills; and the creation of approaches to support instructor development. Previously, Dr. Diedrich was CEO of Milcord, LLC, and President of Aptima, Inc. Early in his career, he was at Exponent – Failure Analysis Associates where he studied issues concerning the causes of accidents associated with consumer products. While a post-doctoral research associate at Indiana University he investigated dynamic systems approaches to understanding early development. Dr. Diedrich holds a Ph.D. in Cognitive Science and a M.Sc. in Experimental Psychology from Brown University.
