Program Description:

Standards provide interoperability and reduce time and cost to deliver effective solutions. This is especially true in the synthetic training domain where a mix of existing and/or newly developed components often need to be integrated in a short timeframe. M&S standardization leads from NATO Modelling and Simulation Group (NMSG), the Simulation Interoperability Standards Organization (SISO) will describe their ongoing efforts in the context of the NATO initiative for a persistent Distributed Synthetic Training (DST) capability.

You will gain renewed appreciation for the value of standards and more in-depth understanding of how they are developed, adopted, supported, and maintained. If you attended the NMSG-SISO session last year, plan to join again this year to get an update on NATO and SISO standards development products for the training domain.

Panelist #1 Information: Mr Lionel Khimeche is the Head of the M&S department at DGA (Direction Générale de l’Armement) in charge to execute the M&S for acquisition master plan. He also chairs the NATO M&S Standards Subgroup (MS3) which aims to promote use of standards, provide lessons learned and improvements as needed.

Panelist #2 Information: Dr. Robert Siegfried is a Senior M&S Consultant and Managing Director of Aditerna. Robert leads the NMSG’s efforts towards Distributed Synthetic Training (DST).

Panelist #3 Information: Björn Löfstrand is the Vice President of Pitch Technologies. He has been engaged in many M&S standardization activities including High-Level Architecture (HLA) and Distributed Simulation Engineering and Execution Process (DSEEP). He supports the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) and the Swedish Armed Forces in the transformation of simulation based training systems.

Panelist #4 Information: David Lusk is an RAF contractor. He leads the DST Architecture Tigerteam. His work is focused in developing fast track simulation solutions known as Capability Concept Demonstrators and the integration of legacy and future simulation training devices into the Gladiator DST environment.
