Suzanne Borders, CEO + Founder, BadVR, Inc.
Suzanne Borders studied psychology at the University of Missouri–Kansas City and brings more than a decade of experience as a Lead UX/Product Designer and Director of UX Design. Before founding BadVR, she specialized in designing advanced data analytics interfaces, with a career-long commitment to democratizing access to technology through universally accessible, human-centered products.
Prior to BadVR, Suzanne led UX/UI design teams at Remine (which raised $48M) and CREXi (which raised $54M), where she developed new design standards for 2D geospatial visualization and led the launch of multiple revenue-generating products. In 2019, she founded BadVR and was recognized with an IEEE “Rising Stars” Innovation Award. To date, Suzanne has secured more than $4M in non-dilutive funding for BadVR through competitive grants from the National Science Foundation, NOAA, Magic Leap, and other partners. She is also the inventor on four patents developed while leading the BadVR team.
Over the past five years, Suzanne has emerged as a leading voice in immersive data visualization and analytics. She has delivered keynote addresses at more than 25 national and international conferences on topics spanning immersive technology, design, and data. Outside of work, Suzanne travels extensively for inspiration (80 countries and counting) and is a published author of both technical and creative works—as well as a former punk. She thrives at the intersection of product design, immersive technology, and data, believing deeply in the artistry of technology and the technicality of art.
