Biography
Nick Vlahopoulos is a Professor in the Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. He received his PhD degree from the University of Michigan in 1989 and joined the University of Michigan as an Assistant Professor in 1996 after working in the Industry for seven years. He was promoted to Associate Professor without tenure in 1999, received tenure in 2001, and promoted to Professor in 2005. He has graduated 21 Ph.D. students, published 80 journal papers, presented over 100 conference papers, and authored chapters in two books. The areas of his research are: numerical methods in structural-acoustics, design of complex systems, and blast event simulations.
